I think that I want doughy treat
A bagel lovely I can eat
A treat whose chewy chews are best
Along with cream cheese gooey mess
A treat that fills a hole each day
A massive carbohydrate, yea!
I see my waist in summer flair
It seems there’s nothing I can wear
The one whose goodness I obtain
Who evidently brought me gain
Bagels are ate by fools like me
Who wear a pant size fifty three.

Pillow Talk

(to Joyce Kilmer's Trees)
Methinks my head shall never find
This pillow lovely and divine
A pillow soft with precious fluff
A place to lie when world’s enough
A home for noggin counting sheep
And sends me off to comfort sleep
A kind and thoughtful respite place
That soaks the stains of oily face
Encased in flannel fabric dear
It molds itself around my ear
The place to spread my gentle locks
So glad you’re not a wooden box.
(with thanks to Morgan for spurring the thought)

The Flea

I THINK that I shall never see
A bug buggy as a flea
A flea makes itchy doggy pest
On dog will feast a gnawing fest;
A flea that looks with compound eyes,
And jumps on Rover never flies;
A flea that lands on Rover’s hair
And makes a condo living there;
Whose sole intention eggs to lay;
Now on upholstery, what a pain.
Few are bugs that bother me
Begone before I powder thee.
