(to Stardust, as sung by Willie Nelson)
My mind, it wanders
To a friend
The simple sights
Flickering then gone
When I dream
Thoughts occur to me
What once was bright has turned to blue
And the friend I knew
Has left me at the station
So why’d you have to go?
I’ve little consolation
Since through twilight you have flown
I’m gazing at a star
Your shining light
Fading from afar
A sad farewell
Can’t reach you through the mail
No paradise address in view
So through you I gain,
Though the heartache oft days will remain
Your gift, the memories
Until we meet, dear friend, again.
