Mazel Tov

(to the Osborne Brothers' "Rocky Top")

Grew up poor on side of mountain top
Pa was a cranky ol’ heel
When he left home, mom cried “Mazel tov!”
She laughed and did a cartwheel.

Then I asked my ma “What’s mazel tov?”
She said “I’m tellin’ you child.
It’s when your dreams come true, you gotta stop
Dance ‘round and shout it out loud.”

Mazel tov, she’d dance and sing
Share some joy with me
Shout out “Mazel tov!”
Mazel tov, dance with me.

From that day I shouted “Mazel Tov!”
I’d shout it every day
On first kiss it shocked my girl a lot
Scared all the boys away

My first job I shouted “Mazel Tov!”
Shouted the day I got hitched
Late at night, my hon shouts “Mazel Tov!”
Now we’ve 29 kids.

Mazel tov, let’s dance and sing
Share some joy with me
Shout out “Mazel tov!”
Mazel tov sing with me

Miss those years, I miss my mom a lot
Days so happy, my friend
And how she taught me ‘bout that “Mazel tov.”
Think I’ll shout it again.

Mazel tov, let’s dance and sing
Share your joy with me
Shout out “Mazel tov!”
Mazel tov shout with me.
Mazel tov shout with me.
