We Are The Smart In Texas

(to "Deep in the Heart of Texas")

We’re sage and bright
And oh so right
We are the smart in Texas

We all look fly
With weapons high
We like our guns in Texas

The gays we’ll prune
And fix them soon
They aren’t our type in Texas

We think our gov
Should cure their love
You should be straight in Texas

Those science guys
Are none too wise
We change the facts in Texas

So school book texts
Will be an-nexed
We love our kids in Texas

See the felons wail
Inside our jail
You will be caught in Texas

Let’s kill them all
Then shop in mall
We keep it light in Texas.

(Note: This by no means reflects the heart and soul of many thoughtful Texans. It only speaks to the conservatives who want to take Texas back to the 19th century.)

If The World Was Well Armed

If the world was well armed
Good gosh what's the harm?
No baddies could take me
My bullets would save me
Let's have in our nation
A gun proclamation
That man, woman, child
Would pack heat and smile
For more guns is best
Just like the wild west
Where law we will shoulder
In our shoulder hoster
At schools and the malls
At church altar calls
If bad fight should start
Just aim for the heart
The best path to peace
Is owning a piece
All kids will adore
Armed guards at the door
A paranoid study
That no one's your buddy
Let's cherish the thought
That handguns are bought
To help those in need
With lethal good deed

Color Your Words

As right goes wrong
We theorize
What freedoms mean
In deeds

For now
This we all know
Bullets and blood
Bring us nothing but tears
Then dreams
Of our children forever

Color your words
With hope
And cold subdue

The Second Amendment

(to Kermit the Frog's "Rainbow Connection")

Why are there so many
Guns, assault rifles
That send souls to other side?
Weapons are sacred
But is that illusion?
Are bullets sweet freedoms that fly?

What we’ve been told it’s our right to go horde ‘em
Steel barreled brawn we can keep
Logic defined by
The second amendment
The ammo
The triggers
We need

We thank the NRA
For freedoms we’re after
For sport and protection smart.
With bodies stacking up
The lobby will spin it
“People kill. Guns? No part.”

Guns for assaulting bring rabid exalting
And triggers bring glee when they squeeze
They cheer, “Protect it,
The second amendment
For country
For freedom
For me.”

Congressman, what is that smell?
We know it’s probably bullshit…

Ban all arms, not for me
But let’s curb our choices
Some think these Nazi-esque schemes
Big bangs are sweet sounds
Bring joy to old sportsmen
The same sounds that madmen will heed

We’ve seen towns weep, is this time to ignore them?
But nothing’s what we’re likely to see
Till then, endure it
The second amendment
The lovers
The haters
And me.
